"There are no strangers here; only friends you haven't yet met." - William Butler Yeats
Dear friends, welcome to MB Historic Décor. My name is Vivian Bisbee and I am the owner of this special business. MB Historic Décor traces its roots back to 1968, when my parents purchased an antique colonial home in Norwich, Vermont and my mother, Polly Forcier, wanted to find a way to decorate our new home economically. She was already accomplished in Early American Decoration, and she had been exposed to historic wall stenciling by Jessica Bond of Dorset, Vermont. In the 1970s, Mom and Jessica traveled through the region documenting and tracing historic stencils, and Mom began decorating homes for friends and relatives with her growing stencil collection. As demand grew for historic stencils, Mom realized that she could share the knowledge and beauty of this truly American art form by starting a business. The stencils were sent out to be programmed and laser cut, a website was launched, and in 1994, MB Historic Décor was born. The MB is a tribute to my grandmother, Mary Bradford Hill, who introduced my mother Mary Bradford (Polly) Forcier, to the Early American Arts.
